Modern Foreign Languages
The Languages Department at Ridgeway offers Spanish taught by 4 enthusiastic linguists who want to pass onto their students a love of languages and an understanding of their importance in today’s society.
We aim to equip our students with the skills necessary for an increasingly competitive job market where we believe it is no longer acceptable or practical to be monolingual. Our students enjoy stimulating and challenging lessons delivered through a variety of teaching styles. We have the following ambitions for our students:

My Life: Describing yourself- name, age, birthdays, pets.
Free Time: Free time activities, weather.
My School: Saying what subjects you do and describing your school day.
My Town: Describing your town and what you can do there.
Year 8 Spanish
My Holidays: Where you went on holiday, what you did, giving your opinion.
My Life: Describing your favourite music and TV programmes and saying what you did yesterday. How you use technology.
Food: What you like to eat, preparing for a party, describing mealtimes.
Going Out: Arranging to go out and what you are going to wear, making excuses.
Summer camp: What can you do at a summer camp, what are you going to do this summer.
Year 9 Spanish
My Life: What you do, have done and are going to do during the week, describing a recent birthday celebration.
Work: What kind of job would you like to do, what people did at work yesterday, describing tasks people do at work.
Healthy Eating: Describing a healthy lifestyle.
My rights: Children’s rights, fair trade and recycling, describing a day out.
